Whole + Intentional Leader Development on the University Campus

“If you would like to open up your personal views and experience in leadership -then this class (using the WiLD Toolkit) is for you. I learned a lot about my personal talents, my goals for future endeavors, and feel confident about being a better leader for tomorrow.”

- Kristin, Cal Baptist University Student

There’s a profound depth and power to using the WiLD Toolkit with students, faculty, alumni, and staff on your campus - the impact is whole and intentional learning across the lifespan of a person.

Whole and intentional leader development is a big deal, and the WiLD Toolkit provides the power to move an idea into reality.

-Dr. Rob McKenna

Universities we currently work with or have worked with in the past include:

Wheaton College, University of Washington, Cal Baptist University, Indiana Wesleyan University, Greenville University, Seattle Pacific University, Northwest University, Southeastern University, Loyola Marymount University, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

“Through WiLD, I have been equipped to see opportunities for growth and development in a wider variety of experiences and to sort and prioritize those opportunities so that true growth, rather than distraction, can happen.”

- Noah Toly, PhD, Chair of Urban Studies, Wheaton College

Dr. Toly wanted a process for his students that was demanding and stretched them, but that was also flexible enough to have application across life stages, fields of study, and vocational interests. He built the WiLD Toolkit into his curriculum so that his students would walk through each module in the WiLD Toolkit system over the semester.

The WiLD Toolkit perfectly fit this need, giving flexibility for student-led discussions and prompts that could be tailored specifically to their situations.

Students noted that they are now prompted to consider a broader, deeper, and more complex system of variables related to their vocations and their leadership development.

“If students had an opportunity to do this early on, they would have a significant competitive advantage over their peers.” - Dr. Caldwell

The Impact of the WiLD Toolkit on Campus

Dr. Sheila Caldwell describes the impact of the WiLD Toolkit on campus at Wheaton College, and how it has been an important tool in inclusion, equity, and belonging efforts.

For more of Dr. Caldwell’s experience using the WiLD Toolkit at Wheaton College, visit her WiLD Story page here.

Using the WiLD Toolkit in the Classroom

We’ve had the opportunity to use the WiLD Toolkit with Freshmen in College and PhD students in graduate school, and what we know is that it has incredibly meaningful impact time and time again.

Leading a Whole + Intentional Life

Below is a sample of a semester syllabus and course flow that integrates the WiLD Toolkit alongside discipline specific lectures and discussions. Whole + intentional leader development happens when content comes alongside the context of a leader - that’s the power of using the WiLD Toolkit in the university setting.

Research Based Material

When you use the WiLD Toolkit with your students you can be certain that it is no one-off solution. This system is built on decades of research and has dozens of articles and publications that contain research done on the system and its impact. The WiLD Toolkit is a set of 10 sequential developmental Tools and personalized Feedback Reports that provide a comprehensive and intentional development plan. This annual process will bring intentionality around your next steps forward and increase your adaptive performance in real time.

Unlike any other developmental process, the Tools are based on four decades of research on the developmental journey of leaders. They provide deep insight and guidance in helping you become a better version of yourself for your own sake, and more importantly, for the sake of others around you.
